The CEREA team have been appointed by the Trustees of the Hospice of the Valleys as lead consultants with a wide and comprehensive brief to design, procure and project manage the delivery of this unique facility for patients, staff and the community.
The design and delivery of this project will be achieved within the context of a local authority approved regeneration masterplan of the former steel works site at Ebbw Vale; the design delivers innovative solutions to key brief requirements such as energy efficiency, sustainability, bio-diversity and renewable energy systems. The primary aim is to provide a state-of-the-art patient care facility which will include a children’s zone, a multi-function community hall, training facilities and a modern headquarter administrative centre for the Hospice of the Valleys teams.
The CEREA design team in liaison and collaboration with Blaenau Gwent Ebbw Vale Project Office and other Local Authority appointed consultants have responded very positively to this challenge. Initial concept designs have been produced which are currently being developed as draft design proposals. These proposals will shortly be opened to a wide consultation process which will include the public, the local authority and other stakeholders. The outcome of this process will be incorporated in the final design for submission to the Local Planning Authority.
